Quintiles, and their closely associated aspect cousins the Bi-Quintiles, first appear in Western astrology in the work of Johannes Kepler. They are also associated with what both Kepler and Da Vinci called the “Divine Proportion,” and when five of them are found, sequentially, they create a 5-pointed star, which in turn is associated with the planet Venus,1 the archetypal Feminine creative and fecund energy. If you want to find someone's gifts in a chart, don't forget the quintiles. They are more interesting and unique than trines and sextiles, though also somewhat more subtle. Any time you have a quintile, those two planets combine to form some very powerful magic and gifts. '5' resonates with Mercury more than any planet it's creative and magical. It's based on '5.' If you divide 360 by 5 you get 72. I use the quintile aspect and for the sake of learning a bit more about them I've come up with some links for you.Ī quintile is a 72 degree aspect.
